The Disasters Emergency Committee (or DEC) brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas.
Since 2022, we’ve supported all of the DEC’s public emergency fundraising appeals, including their appeals for Ukraine, the catastrophic floods in Pakistan and the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
At the end of 2023, we proudly joined as the newest member of the DEC's Rapid Response Network. As a member of the Network, we are committed to supporting future emergency fundraising appeals wherever possible. Our membership enables us to spread the word, empowering our dedicated customers and colleagues to play a part in the DEC’s mission with quick and simple ways to donate.
Two catastrophic earthquakes have hit Venezuela and the scale of destruction is huge. Two million people are in the worst impacted areas and thousands of people have been killed, with the death toll continuing to rise.
As core members of the DEC’s Rapid Response Network, The Co-operative Bank and Coventry Building Society are supporting the appeal, aiming to help raise funds through our JustGiving page and donating £20,000 to the appeal.
DEC charities are working with their local partners to reach people with emergency aid and support search and recovery efforts. They urgently need more funds to scale up their work and reach the most vulnerable.

From helping people develop their basic tech skills to educating the younger generation about digital careers, our network of volunteers are on hand to assist with the digital needs of communities across the UK.
We’re incredibly proud to be part of Pride events throughout the UK, and especially in our hometown of Manchester, where we’ve sponsored Pride since 2016, and we’ll be taking part in this year’s Manchester Village Pride event.
Our support for Pride up and down the UK is led by our LGBTQ+ colleague inclusion group, Proud Together. Along with our colleagues and partners, we’re proud to send a message to Manchester and beyond that we will continue to campaign for greater equity, diversity and inclusion for all. We’re proud to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and to contribute to the creation of equal opportunities for everyone in our communities.

This is why, as an ethical bank dedicated to building stronger communities, we give the opportunity for registered charities, community interest companies, co-operatives, and credit unions to apply for funding from our Customer Donation Fund twice a year when they sign up to our Charity and Community Bank Account.
